Brief report

Our organization will address the needs of the Somali community in California. One good example is when a new immigrant comes to America. Their children are placed in a class according to their age but not according to what they know academically and this caused a significant impact on high school drop out in the Somali community. We are trying to address this issue and create a program to help a needy student so that they can be successful in school.

Field directors will conduct our program. Directors are qualified based on their related working experience and academic certificate (some 4 year college degree or above). The committee panel conducts the selection process and interview. We expect helping 500 to 1,000 individuals in our first year but the number will increase as we expand.

The organization will provide social services and an after school program. We will implement the No child left behind program, conduct adult literacy class (ESL), High school dropout prevention, and parent workshops on how to support their children’s success in school.
